Considering my high density of medical related posts, I figured I would start providing some resources for things I write about. These are things I deal with personally.

Vocab

  • EGID: Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorder
  • Eos: Short hand for EGID/ eosinophil
  • G tube: A feeding tube that goes through the abdominal wall to the stomach
  • GJ tube: A feeding tube that goes through the abdominal wall with two ports, one to the stomach, one to the jejunum
  • J tube: A feeding tube that goes through the abdominal wall to the jejunum
  • NG tube: A feeding tube that goes down the nose/throat to the stomach
  • PICC line: A form of central IV access that can be used long term, a catheter threaded from arm to the vena cava
  • CL: Central line
  • Tunneled CL: A more permanent form of central IV access, inserted surgically
  • Enteral feeds: formula via a feeding tube
  • Parenteral feeds (TPN): IV nutrition through a central access point
  • GP: Gastroparesis
  • Mito: Mitochondrial Disease
  • POTS: Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome
  • CRPS: Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome
